More Fashion from the 1940。This is a very high fashion beaded cocktail hat from the fashionable 1950s\'! The structure is semi flexible in that it opens and closes slightly to accommodate multiple head size and hair styles. The top of the hat and inside front \"brim\" are covered in soft pink felt. From the photos you can see the intricate and elaborate beading work, which stands out even more with the addition of dangling pearls. The inside of the hat is covered in see-through black lace. Note: The headband has small makeup stains in a few places (see last 2 photos). This is not visible when worn, so it does not detract from the magnificence of this vintage hat. Daytime hats were de rigueur in the 1930s-50s\', except for more formal late afternoon events (art openings, cocktail parties, tea dances etc.) when a daytime hat just did not work with a cocktail dress. When Hollywood costume designers Elsa Schiaparelli and Mr. John paired a new, smaller hat with cocktail dresses in several movies, women of fashion around the world eagerly followed suit.
