Y2K Abstract Tortoise Lucite Hair Barrette The Bakelite Lady SF Retro Futurist Clip Striking abstract tortoise-pattern hair barrette acquired in San Francisco in the early 2000s from The Bakelite Lady, a well-known California dealer specializing in Bakelite jewelry and vintage French hair accessories. This sculptural piece has dramatic retro-futurist lines with a flame/swallow silhouette that feels wonderfully Y2K while nodding to Art Deco and atomic-era design. Lightweight and easy to wear with a rich amber-and-black tortoise finish. Material is untested and is being sold as a Bakelite-style vintage plastic/lucite/acetate accessory. * Abstract sculptural design * Tortoise shell coloration * Metal clasp back * Y2K / atomic mod / retro futurist aesthetic * Acquired in San Francisco circa early 2000s * From The Bakelite Lady collection whimsigoth, retro fashion, pinup styling, indie sleaze, vintage collectors, and Art Deco-inspired looks.
